Alex Brainard, M.D.

Although I have lived in five different states throughout my life, I have considered Kansas City my home since moving here when I was ten years old. My education began in the Shawnee Mission school system, where I met my wife and high school sweetheart, Melissa. From there, my academics continued on to Kansas State University for my undergraduate studies followed by the University of Kansas Medical Center where I received my MD. Following medical school, I ventured away from Kansas for my residency training at the University of Louisville. Immediately following the completion of residency, I plan to return home to become a part of the Shawnee Mission Pediatrics family. As a Pediatrician, I have the privilege and responsibility of caring for children from infancy through young adulthood. This continuity of care allows me to establish lasting relationships with my patients and their families. It is my goal to help my patients set a foundation for healthy living that can be maintained and built upon as they grow into their role as young adults. Being a parent myself, I understand that it truly does take a village to raise a child, and I am honored to be a part of this community that strives to nurture healthy and successful children. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, being outdoors, exercising, reading, and anything related to sports. I especially love cheering for the Royals, Chiefs, and Wildcats
