Sherri Martin, M.D.

In 1998, I joined the Shawnee Mission Pediatrics family.  Over the years, it has been my pleasure to grow as a pediatrician alongside my patients.  It has been an honor to watch my patients develop from babies into young adults. I have also loved watching young parents mature as they lead their children through the many stages of growth.  I consider it a great honor to now take care of the children of some of my first patients.  No day is like the one before it and I can honestly say, I never tire of having the opportunity to guide parents in making healthy choices for their families.

Shortly after I began my journey as a pediatrician, one of my patients exclaimed, “Oh I get it; you are a mommy doctor!”   That is exactly what I am.  One of the biggest accomplishments in my life is being the mother of a very large, blended family made up of my five biologic sons and four stepchildren.  That’s right, I have 8 sons and 1 daughter!  My personal experiences over the years as a mother of this unique family certainly has shaped my role as a pediatrician.

My undergraduate and medical training were both at the University of Kansas (1991, 1995). This is what brought me to the Kansas City area from Western Kansas. I received my pediatric training at the Children’s Mercy Hospital (1998) where I continue to serve on the staff. I have been active in many leadership roles at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center, including Medical Staff President, and currently serve on the Advisory Board for the Lee Ann Britain Infant Development Center.  In the few spare moments that I have, I enjoy running, reading, and sewing, but most of all, I enjoy time with my family at home or the lake.
